Not Your Average Joe

Art with Purpose: Partnering with Not Your Average Joe

This year, Soonercon 34: Through Salt & Storm is proud to announce Not Your Average Joe as our official charity partner. Together, we are launching an exciting initiative to fund and support their new “Accept-ional Art Classes” designed specifically for individuals with special needs.

Connecting Art to STEAM

While science, technology, engineering, and math fuel innovation, it is the “A” in STEAM—Art—that sparks true creativity and self-expression. Art provides a vital, hands-on framework for problem-solving, spatial awareness, and cognitive development. By supporting the Accept-ional Art Classes, we are helping ensure that creative education is accessible to everyone, proving that unique perspectives drive the brightest innovations.

How We Are Making a Wave

Our goal is to help anchor this program and ensure it has the resources to thrive. Soonercon is contributing in two major ways:

Funding Supplies: Proceeds raised during the convention will directly secure the high-quality art supplies needed to host as many classes as possible.

Community Connections: Beyond financial support, we are bridging the gap between fandom and philanthropy. We will be leveraging our incredible network of professional creators, makers, and visionaries to bring guest artists directly into the classroom to help teach and inspire these students.

Through this partnership, we are creating a brighter, more inclusive community where every artist regardless of abilities has the chance to shine.

SoonerCon Donating Money to Positive Tomorrows in 2018

Soonercon has Supported Charity Organizations Since 1986

Soonercon is organized by the Future Society of Oklahoma, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our organization’s vision is to “learn from the past; work together today; build a welcoming tomorrow.” Part of how we accomplish that vision is by supporting other charity organizations.

Helping youth in need is once again the theme for this year’s charitable giving. There will be opportunities to support our charity partner throughout the convention weekend, including our charity raffle, tabletop gaming tournaments, and more.
