Cosplay Karaoke

General Information

Cosplay Karaoke Contest will take place the evening of Friday, June 19, 2026.

Cosplay Karaoke Contest will permit a maximum of twenty (20) entrants due to time constraints. This may change based on registration responses.

All participants must be members of Soonercon. Contestants thirteen (13) years of age and older may enter the Cosplay Karaoke Contest.

All participants in the Karaoke Contest must complete and return a contest registration form by 11:59 pm on Friday, June 5, 2026, or until all contestant slots are filled, whichever happens first. Entries will not be accepted after this date for the current year’s contest. Entries are first-come, first-served.

Additional at-con entries will be placed on a waiting list. Forms can be found at the Costuming Table. Please ask Costuming Staff for forms. To be assured a spot in the contest, we highly recommend that you enter online early in the entry period before the convention. 

All pre-registered contestants are required to check in at University B 30 minutes before the start of the Contest. 

Song Selections

Contestants must provide either a YouTube link to their song, or email an mp3 file to costuming@soonercon.com. 

No phones, portable music players, CDs, or cassettes are allowed. Audio tracks with vocals are allowed, but karaoke versions are strongly recommended. You will lose points in Vocal Performance if the judges cannot hear your voice.

Lyrics must be memorized.

Contestants may not sing a cappella style—you must have a backing track.

Judging

Contestants will be assigned a numerical score by each judge based on vocal ability, stage presence, and originality. The scores from each judge are added together to come up with a total score for the contestant.

Awards

• First Place (decided by judges panel)
• Second Place (decided by judges panel)
• Fan Favorite (decided by audience applause. Bring your friends!)

Conduct

All songs and cosplay must be appropriate for all ages. Songs that contain racial slurs, vulgarity, obscene or insulting language should be avoided. Culture sensitivity is a must. All songs and cosplay should adhere to all Soonercon Rules & Policies. Any costume or song which Staff determines to be in violation of the criteria set forth herein will be rejected as ineligible and disqualified from the Contest.

The following rules are in addition to the Soonercon code of conduct that applies to all attendees:

• All aspects of the act, including, but not limited to: costume, conduct on stage, and song lyrics, are to abide by no more than a PG standard. If you’re in doubt, please email or post and tell us what you have in mind, and we’ll work something out.
• If any violations of this policy occur, Soonercon Staff reserve the right to disqualify offenders from the contest or terminate the act mid-song. In extreme cases, offenders may also be subject to convention penalties including loss of badge and removal from the convention.
• During the contest, no interaction with the Emcee is allowed. Contestants may not touch or approach the judges’ table. Contestants may not go into the audience or use an audience member in their act. Actions that encourage general audience participation as a whole, such as asking the crowd to clap, are allowed.
• The only persons allowed in the performing area are the Emcee, staff, judges, and contestants. Friends, relatives, fans, mascots, managers, agents, and any other persons not actually performing in the contest are not allowed on stage.
