Bane Grimm has been active in the cosplay/con scene since 2012. Soonercon was his first time cosplaying, which he participated and won in the cosplay contest.
He then continued creating and modifying his cosplays for almost 11 years at various conventions and events; including charity work through different groups.
In 2017, he attended an event called Wasteland Weekend in California, a 4-day-long immersive post-apocalyptical festival inspired by Mad Max and other dystopian culture.
Attending this event pushed his creativity to new levels and developing OC persona and aesthetic. He created a wildly popular technique for his character that involves the melting of trash bags to adhere to leather vests. This technique can be seen on YouTube through The Apocalypse Post. You can also see all of the various pieces he has created for the event and clients at alabastard.designs.
Around 2022-2023, he stepped back from cosplaying to focus more on the photography side of cosplay. Having been actively shooting in general since 2016, he has collaborated with various talented cosplayers, local and from afar.
In 2023, with the help of another local cosplayer named DangerCade, they started their own charity event. Using inspiration from the wasteland event and the cyberpunk genre to create an adult only dystopian themed party called B/ADECON. Through the event, they use donations to raise money for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
He has been featured in the Oklahoma Gazette and Cosplay Alliance as a cosplayer, Cosplay Alliance as a photographer, and has had his art on display at local venues like DNA Galleries in the Plaza.
As of today, he is active in the Oklahoma Cosplayers Facebook Group as a Moderator and assisting in events organized by the group, And continues to assist local cons like New World Comic Con and working on the next B/ADECON.
